European days of handicap

European days of handicap have long tradition in Ostrava. They were held for the first time in 1992 and were called Czech-French days. In 2007 TRIGON association held XV. year with new name: European days of handicap. New approach to project and its future was created too, and that meant more cooperation with foreign partners form EU. This vision was fulfiled and updated in 2008 and was very inspiring for next years.
Main aim of European days of handicap is exchange of experience of our and foreign experts with the goal of improving life situation of handicapped people. This international event also adds to public information about activities of organizations focused on helping handicapped people and by it it helps to overcome barriers between healthy and disadvantaged population.
Outcomes from expert part of European days of handicap are used for improvement of services offered to handicapped people not only in Ostrava region.   

Crystal pebble

Highlight of European days of handicap is celebration evening on witch TRIGON association awards Crystal pebble prize in categories: "Personality award for long time dedication and success in the field of helping handicapped people" and "Award for handicapped people for extraordinal action or activity." Such award is unique in Czech Republic. Its main goal is to emphasize extraordinal activities of handicapped people and to thank people who dedicated huge part of their lifes to handicapped people problems.
